Exciting Math News! – New Largest Prime Found! Go ahead, roll your eyes, but to some math-types, this is heady stuff. This new largest prime has over 22 million digits, and is one of a special class of primes called Mersenne Primes. There are only 49 of them known. The discoverer of this one is Curtis Cooper*, from University of Central MO! For more details and some history, visit MersenneInfo.
