Wild Cards! 3/2/15

Cartoon(s) of the Week  Since it fits so well with today’s Educational Thoughts, I’m going to share this Doonesbury comic.  But as a bonus, I’m also going to throw in a classic  FAR SIDE.  This seems to be a favorite of many, especially non math lovers.  🙂  I’ve had this scenario quoted to me before, as a fear.  See Far Side – Math Phobic.

Krazy Pic  One of our favorite subscribers is Terry Goodman, whose birthday was Sunday (March 1)!  There is no truth to the rumor that this is a childhood picture of him, but either way, it qualifies as a fun Krazy Pic.

March Birthdays March is a light month in terms of the known subscriber birthdays.  For the list, see March Birthdays.  We currently have less than half of the subscriber birthdays – we’d like to celebrate them all!  If you haven’t sent us your birthday, why not?  🙂

February Suggestions Winners!  Winners of the “Suggestions” Prize Event for February are Alexis Avis, Jeff Campbell, and Lisa Ham, in that order.  To see their good suggestions (and their prizes), visit Suggestion Winners.

Math & Poetry Answers  I think several of us were intrigued by the Mathematics and Poetry piece last week.  For the answers (and the historical figures who are quoted), see Math & Poetry.

More Answers!  New BT submitters this past week!!  (But some ‘regulars’ were missing 🙂 ). For answers and submitters see Various Answers.  For the fascinating (mind-blowing?!) answers to Garfield and his million meals, see Garfield.Million.Answers.

Student Answers! 🙂  In case you didn’t visit either of the links just above, you may still want to see this:  Subscriber Alexis Avis gave her 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes these BTs and Mini-Challenges.  Their solutions are delightful!  See Alexis’ Class’ Solutions.
