A lesser-known landmark north of Pierre, SD, is the landing strip used by Charles Lindbergh when he visited Pierre, SD in Sep 1927, as part of a tour of the 48 state capitals to promote aviation, after his historic trans-atlantic flight of earlier that year.  For pictures and more details see LindberghLandingStrip.
