There was recently a shooting outside the Washington Nationals baseball stadium during a ball game. (The game was soon suspended and finished next day.)
An 8 year-old girl was at the game, and was asked how she felt about all the commotion and uncertainty that temporarily reigned. Her response:
“It was my 2nd shooting, so I was kind of prepared.
I’m always expecting something to happen.”

I caught her comments,too, and was struck by them as well. Equally sad was how her words, though featured, were received somewhat casually and indifferently.
