Quote for the Week:  People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use.   Soren Kierkegaard

Fun Quote for the Week:  I told my wife she should embrace her mistakes.  She hugged me.   Seen Online

Krazy Pic 1  I completely understand that ‘little extra bonus incentive’ often offered to complete a transaction.  But is this gonna do the trick?

Krazy Pic 2  And, here is today’s entry in the “something seems to be lost in the translation” category!

Cartoon of the Week  You can see the problem.  Hard to know whether to sympathize or smile (or both).

Mystery of Nature! – Interesting Pattern  Many of you know I love patterns and I love mysteries (to try to solve).   As our latest snow melted, I got both!!  As I write, this pattern still exists in our driveway/front yard.  I love the pattern (and the curve to it!), but I don’t really have an explanation (well, a good one, anyway) for why this large ‘plotting points’ are still there.  Any help?  (Yes, I did do some shoveling, but No, I did not throw the scoops in those places. Nice thought, though.)

Useless Information of the the Week  Can you name the only state which shares a border with exactly one state (no more, no less)?  Click here for the answer.

Pesky Puzzler 24.1  Our first Pesky Puzzler of ’24 is connected to the very special calendar events described below in Isn’t Math Wonderful?  Here is the link for both. You’ll find the Puzzler at the bottom of the page.  Many of you will find it somewhat easy to play with.  Have fun!!

Pesky Puzzlers VI & VII – Remaining ’23 Solutions  When our annual Holiday Break began, we had two remaining Puzzlers still active.  Puzzler VI asked us to find the obvious error in a picture.  Virgie Mahan, Rita Barger, and Amy Ragsdale submitted correct solutions.  Puzzler VII contained a couple of ‘figure it out’ arithmetic (and/or algebra?) problems.  Amy Ragsdale solved both problems.  Solutions to both Puzzlers may be seen here.

Isn’t Math Wonderful?  A calendar happening throughout this year is a year-long once-in-a-century event.  Each century this only occurs  in the year ’24.  See the fun details here.  And then spend the year celebrating!
