Wild Cards – Dec 9, 2024

EDITOR’S NOTE: As you can see from the dates on this Mailing, it was scheduled/due to go out earlier this week (Dec 9).  It did NOT, and I was slow to even notice and try to fix, since, on that morning, I also tested positive for Covid. 🙁  So, I’m trying again, and we plan to have all these glitches fixed with a major overhaul, which is already started.  We’ll see you next year!!

CHRISTMAS CALENDAR and MAILING SCHEDULE:  As is our custom each year, we give our over-worked staff most of December to spend with their families.  As a result, this is the LAST MAILING OF 2024.  Watch for the next Mailing in early 2025 (either 1/6 or 1/13 – TBA).

We wish everyone a most joyous December (and Merry Christmas to most of us) and a Happy New Year!!

Krazy Pic 1  This could really be crucial to some folks!!  At least they warned us!!

Krazy Pic 2  I know the feeling!  You find a series you like, and you just settle in to binge-watch, right?

Bonus Combo: Krazy Pic and Pesky Puzzle and PRIZES! This picture greatly intrigues and puzzles me – both.  (Hence the ‘Krazy Pic’).  But there’s a Pesky Puzzle there, isn’t there?  What does the figure represent?  I think it’s mathematical, and I can almost see it, but I can’t immediately pin it down.  Pythagorean Theorem applications?  Clever clock? (other similar pics where I found this were of clocks.)  So, rather  than track it down myself (google?), let’s make a Puzzler out of it – with prizes!  Anyone (or at least the first 3?) who sends in what this represents (or a reasonable explanation?) will win a 2025 Desk Calendar!!  So get cracking!  I’m anxious to solve this!!

Last Chance for Christmas Books!  Given the USPS shipping schedule (with Priority Mail, we can still make it for Christmas) and the fact this is the last Mailing of 2024, this is your LAST CHANCE to pick up a perfect Christmas present for a GREAT price!!  Several different topics from which to choose – you can’t miss, and it’s SO EASY!  One last time: 1)  go to LarryNCampbell.com and scroll down a little to check the info on each book, 2) know that there ARE great $$ deals (on both books and postage/shipping) available (even some close-out prices!), and 3) just inquire (no obligations) if you’d like to know more. (NOTE:  Do NOT order from the website . . . It does not know about this sale and may over-charge you!)  Another Christmas shopping puzzle solved!

Cartoon of the Week  A couple of Christmas cartoons, mixing good wishes, math, quiet, craziness – and, of course – humor!  (Recycled, but the wishes are still genuine!)

Curiosity of the Week  QR codes seem to be everywhere these days.  This is the most intriguing/curious use of one I’ve ever run into.  It might actually be of interest to some of us, but I wonder who the ‘audience’ might be.

Pesky Puzzler Wrap 2024  Our last set of Puzzlers (carried over an extra time) involved cars, cards, letter arrangements and repeated division by 1/5.  Adam Harbaugh, Cam Branson, and Frank Green each solved at least 3 of the 4 puzzlers.  To see those Puzzlers and their solutions, visit PUZZLERS.  We’ll start the Puzzlers again in ’25, and in the meantime, I’ll leave you with the Puzzler/Curiosity mentioned above on the BONUS COMBO.  I’d love to know the answer – and don’t forget the prizes offered!!

January Birthdays I know – January?!  But we’ll be into 2025 before the next Mailing appears, so we best be prepared, eh?  Here is the list of subscriber birthdays in January – at least the ones we know of.
