Wild Cards! – Sep 28, 2015

Krazy Pic!  I admit I cracked up when I first saw this!!  Let’s hope the cyclists don’t do the same!  See KrPic15-25  (If you have trouble reading the sign in the first pic, it’s enlarged right below that.)

Cartoon of the Week – a CLASSIC!! Last week’s cartoons centered around football.  How can one think about football and cartoons without thinking of all the times Lucy pulled the football out from Charlie Brown?!  Did you know that the VERY FIRST time this happened, it was Charlie Brown who asked Lucy to hold it, and Lucy’s motivation was much more ‘innocent’??  Neither did I.  To see the FIRST of these classic events, visit CharlieBrown.Lucy#1

Last Week’s Cartoons – Wrap Up  As mentioned above, last week’s cartoons also centered on football, and one of them featured at least one mistake!!  To see quick clarification of the mistake(s), see FoxTrotFB2 and look at the Comments.  (To revisit the other cartoon, see FoxtrotFB1. )

Brain Teaser Answers Great fun with the BT answers this month!  A (corrected) Campbell goof-up, some neat information on time zonesand . . . an unexpected, TOTALLY COOL, alternate (correct!) answer to #9!!  See SepBTAnswers

NEAT History Trivia!!  It all started when I mistakenly announced  on the radio show, as an answer to a Brain Teaser,  that William Howard Taft was the only President who served two non-consecutive terms.  It wasn’t!!  It was Grover Cleveland.  But in re-checking all this, I discovered some REALLY COOL history trivia!!  To see the facts, click GroverCleveland.

Everchanging Education – Keeping Up  When I started teaching, I thought some of the ‘old farts’ were cynical.  Looking back now, I’m not so sure, and I explored that in last week’s column in the News-Leader.  To read more, visit EducationChanges.

October Birthdays – QUITE a few (known) October birthdays, and a couple of them are early on, so we’ll list them now.  See OctoberBirthdays.   (Are we still looking to collect YOUR birthday?)
