Wild Cards! Oct 19, 2020

Krazy Pic 1  Not sure of the story here, but surely someone said you might not want a dog doing that ?

Krazy Pic 2  Continuing the Trouble While Driving theme, this is likely staged (?), but kinda cute.  Gonna need you to sign here, fella!

Cartoon of the Week You’ve no doubt heard me say how fast ZITS is climbing my ‘Favorite Comic Strips’ list!  This one appeared just last week (Oct 13).  I suspect all old geezers like me can sympthasize, but I instantly laughed anyway.

World’s Longest Legs  As Abraham Lincoln might have said, her legs reach the ground just exactly perfectly.  Still, she (and her legs) are tall!  This teenager (perhaps fittingly from Texas) sets records in TWO Guinness Book categories!

World’s Funniest Joke?  That’s got to be subjective, right?  I was re-visiting Jerry Johnson’s book Mathematics and Humor: Freud Would Be Proud the other day, and, in the introduction, I found this short discussion about the World’s Funniest Joke.  I must admit, I DID laugh out loud!!

World’s Best Country Music Titles?  Good fortune recently found me browsing the HUMOR/COMEDY file of an Ozarks legend, Bob Hubbard *(see below).  I found this list of Country Western Music Titles.  It’s from 2006, so you’ve likely heard some of them, but I’ll bet not all!!  I’ve complied a Top Ten (kinda).  They’ll keep you in stitches!!  (Full Disclosure:  Two or three are rated PG+).

World’s Best Brain Teasers!  OK, now I’m pushing my luck!  🙂  But this is your last shot for Sep/Oct BTs (where does the time go?!)  Three new (fun) BTs and one new Bonus.  Get crackin’ !

A COVID-19 Question; An Answer from Mathematics  “You’re in a room where everyone has tested negative for COVID.  If the test is 97% accurate, how many people need to be in the room to have a 50-50 chance that someone’s test is inaccurate?”  It was a fascinating question, and if we nail down conditions, mathematics can help give an answer. The latest column for the Springfield (MO) News-Leader.

R.I.P. Bob Hubbard (7/3/28 – 9/7/20):   Entertainment Pioneer, Spritual Leader, and so much more.  Original member of the Jordanaires quartet in Nashville (and Grand Ole Opry);  Founder and Lead Singer of Foggy River Boys (one of Branson’s first 4 music shows); Branson/Tri-Lake’s Most Sought-After Emcee: Pastor, Ozark Mountain Christian Church; Spirtual Mentor; Positive Supporter; Good Friend.  Bob was a remarkable Man – he will be missed.  See more details on Bob’s life (including a clip of him singing with the Jordanaires in 1951 (!) ), and some personal humorous memories by way of tribute (including my favorite of his jokes.)

Quote for the Week
