Krazy Pic 1 Uh, wait . . . something is amiss here. I fear someone may have failed Kindergarten?
Krazy Pic 2 And, speaking of kindergarten . . . Isn’t this a clever wording? (Thanks to subscriber Anita Dixon, and her sister Diane Litow, who took the picture and sent it to Anita.)
Cartoon of the Week I try not to do particular comic strip characters twice in a row, but . . . we knew the Foxtrot boys would find a unique way to celebrate July 4, didn’t we?
Curiosity of the Week Most of us would be able to guess the world’s largest country (by area): The Soviet Union. But you might be surprised at the world’s second largest country. At least I was. Find out for yourself here (and also see #s 3-5 as well.)
Isn’t Math Interesting (and fun, and mind-blowing!)? Many of you will know that we just celebrated my favorite math day of the year on June 28. Not only was it 2-PI Day (3/14 x 2 = 6.28), but it’s also Double-Perfect Day (both 6 & 28 are perfect numbers.) Want a refresher on ‘perfect numbers’? Want to know about a perfect number with over 82 million digits?! Want to learn fascinating facts about perfect numbers’ cousins – abundant and deficient numbers? I know most of you are yelling NO, NO! – but even if you think you hate math, I promise that you’ll be blown away by some of these fun (updated) facts. (Indeed, if you don’t find something fascinating here, let me know and I’ll double the amount I’ve left you in my will.)
Pesky Puzzlers Pickles, brothers, sixes galore, rectangles, and automatic credit! What’s not to like?! Not to mention all the Puzzles, solutions, and solvers (Jenni Wall and Christine Porter) from last time!! Check here for all the sets of Puzzlers, past and present, and join in the fun!!
Guest Voice – A Little Laughter from the Universe Some of you will remember that this Mailing used to feature a semi-regular Guest Voice feature. I’m thinking of reviving it. One of our prior Guest Voices was Rita Hermann – we used 2 or 3 of her pieces. This one is a clever, delightful, thoughtful and funny collection of thoughts about how our lives tend to chance from our 14-year-old visions! Take a couple of minutes to read and smile at this (and learn more about Rita) – you’ll enjoy it. (Rita: I didn’t seek your permission again, but you gave it once, so . . .?)
WANTED: Future Guest Voices. (This means YOU?) As mentioned, I’m thinking of reviving this feature, so I’m seeking new Guest Voices, just in case. Almost anything goes!! Read more particulars here and set your mind to work. Share your creativity!
