Krazy Pic Gracious! I hope motorists have this memorized!! 🙂 See KrazyPic15-18.
Cartoons of the Week – Peanuts Snoopy tries his hand at writing a book on theology. As always, humorous, with a little food for thought underneath. See Peanuts. In this BONUS cartoon, Snoopy also touches on a question that is likely nagging at all of us! Snoopy.
A Stroke of Insight Dr. Jill Taylor, brain researcher at Harvard, got a research opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: At age 37, she had a massive stroke, and watched as her brain functions — motion, speech, self-awareness — shut down one by one. Astonishing, engaging – and quite touching. It’s a TedTalk, so it’s 18 minutes, but it’s definitely worth making time to watch sometime! See JillTaylor.
Ongoing BTs Don’t forget that we’re running our Brain Teasers all month, with possibly more added. To see the first 4 again, visit BT15-12. Also see below for a similar – but different – set of exercises.
Flexibility of Thinking – FUN! Not exactly ‘brain teasers’, but they will tease your brain. 🙂 Non-math types seem to excel at these, but math-types like them, too! (And again, teachers: students love them!) I’m actually not sure I remember all the answers to these – can anyone give me a better answer to #13? See FlexThinking and have some fun!
Pluto, Scientists, and . . . the Arts?! Last week’s News Leader column focused on the Pluto Fly-By, and after a nod to the science (and math!) involved, ended with – of all things? – a call for a strong program of ARTS in education. See the piece at Pluto.NL
AfterMath Adventures Thank goodness for two GREAT guests!! They helped override my early (I hope) lack of polish. If you want to hear either of the first two weeks’ fascinating guests, visit krzk.com/aftermathadventures, and scroll down to the podcasts.
