Krazy Pic 1 Perhaps we’re jumping to conclusions, but I’m guessing this guy is a music major!

Krazy Pic 2  You’ll laugh at this anyway, but it’s funnier if you catch the physics reference.

Cartoon of the Week ZITS has become one of my favorite current comics.  Some great understatements.  I shared this less than a year ago, but it’s back for another spin!

Microfiction?!?  Let’s Try This!!  I recently ran into a book of short stories, each consisting of exactly 100 words.  Interesting concept, fad, or both?  To learn more (and join in?!), check out this summary and invitation!  (You can also see an example of Hemingway’s famous 6-word story!)

Heartbreaking Quote  I don’t usually wander this close to the news scene, but . . . You may have read about the shooting which occured outside the Washington Nationals baseball stadium last week.  This heartbreaking quote by an 8-year-old is one of the saddest commentaries on our times that I’ve heard in a long time.

Brain Teasers  Three new BTs to add to the list this time!  Check them all out – have fun!  And find one or two you can send solutions for.

August Birthdays It’s a little early, but we’ll be into August by next time, so here’s our list of known subscriber birthdays in August.

The Unintentional Prophet  I’m taking a two month ‘sabbatical’ from my column-writing to see if I want to continue that gig. In the meantime, I’ll share some previous columns from the archives.  This selection first appeared here in Feb 2015.  It describes an era where I was – quite unintentionally and unexpectedly at the time – a prophet in the making.  It’s entitled Education in an Information Age.

Quote for the Week

The main awakening of the human spirit is in compassion.
