Spirit Mound, near Vermillion, SD
One of the very few places where it is known with certainty “Lewis and Clark stood here”. They visited on August 25, 1804. I stood atop the Mound on August 25, 2016, exactly 212 years later! I’ve pulled this out of the archives, because I will be back in this area (and will likely re-visit the Mound) this week (10/1 – 10/5). Good memories!
