JOIN THE FUN ON JULY 11th – 4:00 PM
INTERESTING & WEIRD MATHEMATICIANS –
AND STORIES ABOUT THEM (Part 1)
PREVIEW OF STORIES
This 40-minute session will share several fun stories involving various mathematicians and events in their lives, from the BCE era to the present. You’ll have several laughs – and learn some fun stuff also! NO math is required. 🙂
There are enough stories to fill (at least) two sessions, so we won’t get to ALL of these, but you will certainly hear some of them: *
1.Cardano: The ultimate WEIRD!
2.The 3 Greatest? (And a story for each?)
3.Frank Cole: A Standing Ovation for a Talk where NOTHING was said!
4.Descartes: Reasons to sleep in?
5.Hypatia: First Woman & Her Sad/Ironic Death
6.No Nobel Prize in Math? A non-mathematical ‘triangle’?
7. Napier: Two Stories for the Birds
8.Pythagoras: A mathematical cult
9. Mersenne: Math’s tantalizing remark
10. Ramanjuan (& Hardy): Taxi #1729?
And So Many More (including an apocryphal Einstein story!)
*If you have specific requests, mention them when you register!!
YOU’RE IN LUCK (Again)! The Price is Right!
