Thanks, Jim!! Leave it to you to have/find interesting articles, follow-up points (and ‘interesting’ BT answers! :-)). I love it.
On the other hand – despite the WONDERFUL site name of PURPLE Math (!!!) – I will reserve the right to slightly disagree with the article in your link. 🙂 (See Disclaimer below.)
I understand the non-uniformity of biblical (and other) measurements (After all, the ‘yard’ used to be the distance from the King’s nosetip to the end of his[her] outstretched hand . . . and I still use the distance between knuckles on the index finger as a good approximation of an inch!), but the fact remains: Whatever measurement was used, be it cubits or popsicle sticks, it is still the case that the ratio should not have been exactly 3. 🙂 Inserting the word approximately might have helped? Who knows? It’s all fun anyway.
DISCLAIMER: Naturally, I rate the importance of this ‘debate’ in the big picture of universal questions to be slightly below #628 – Will Jimmy Hoffa’s remains ever be found? and #629 – Was that really Elvis sighted in Branson last Tuesday?
Both Elvis and Jimmy were in Branson last Tuesday and they say the Biblical measure for pi is close to 3.14.
