February Suggestion Winners

During February, subscribers were given opportunities to make suggestions*  in any area of AfterMath Enterprises, including, of course, the Weekly Photo/Sharings.  The Top 3 Suggestions, in order, came from Alexis Avis, Jeff Campbell, and Lisa Ham.   Here are the Winners’ Suggestions, along with their Prizes, and a Comment or two:
*We’re ALWAYS looking for suggestions, of course, but this month, there were PRIZES to be had as well
First Place:  Alexis Avis.   Prize:  $20 Cash

Suggestion:  I’d like one deep math problem that isn’t a riddle, just takes math reasoning to solve . One that you needn’t use trig or calculus to solve, but putting numbers together in thoughtful ways. When I tutored ACT math to my high schoolers, there were some questions that grabbed me. Anyway, that’s all I could suggest that would add to your already entertaining site.

Comment:  I’m pleased to have this suggestion – from at least one person anyway. :-).  At the same time, I don’t want to ‘run off’ my non-math types.  🙂  Alexis’ suggestion is at least confirmation enough to try it more often, along with the other ‘usual’ Brain Teasers.  Folks can still pick/choose in each collection.

Second Place:  Jeff Campbell.  Prize:  $5 cash OR a 2015 calendar of choice.

Suggestion:  Provide more links between items (especially cartoons), rather than having to return to the Weekly Mailing.

Comment:  This is a great idea, of course!  I’ve done it on a smaller scale, but need to be more conscious of it.  The one glitch is that MailChimp and/or WordPress (the platforms that coordinate for the Mailings) don’t seem to want to allow me to get readers back to the Mailing – at least easily.  That would be a flaw, it seems to me, so I’ll keep checking – it would be good for ALL of us!!  (Anything that makes it easier for you to explore is better for me, too!)

THIRD PRIZE:  Lisa Ham  Prize:  2015 Calendar OR a set of OSS Note Cards.

Suggestion: I am a visual person….so with the brain teasers and the problem solving…why not have pictures/animations to supplement the questions?   Thank you.

Comment:  like this idea, and I like doing things like this (and often do, in other venues).  Apparently WordPress does not.  🙂  It won’t allow me to insert such items into the posts.  At least yet?  I’m exploring other (clever :-)) options, as well.
