February Prize Events

During February, there are/were TWO chances to both have fun and earn prizes, including cash in each category !! The Valentine’s Day Verse Contest is over, but see below for details on making a suggestion and winning a PRIZE!

Make a useful suggestion – or two! – for ANY aspect of AME.

All of you know that I’m CONSTANTLY seeking (even begging for?) suggestions and input about every phase of our AfterMath Enterprises adventure – the mailings, the website, etc.  What kinds of things do you like?  What do you like least?  What great suggestions (things to add, drop, change?) do you have?  Feel free to suggest ANYTHING!  Think outside the box!!  My overall goal (at least with the mailings) is to brighten your Monday mornings!!  How can you help me do that better?  How could I make the website more appealing to you? Where else can you win CASH for sharing your ideas?!

There will be at least three prizes for this event as well.  The suggestions I like best – and am most likely to use – will win!!   So take a minute to help me out – and submit* those suggestions!!

(And, note!!  You could win more than one prize here!  I’ll award prizes to the 3 – or more!- suggestions I like best – no matter who made them!)

DEADLINE:  Entries must be submitted* by midnight on Saturday, Feb 28th.

* As always, reply to a Weekly e-mail, e-mail me directly, or use a Contact Form.

PRIZES!

Prizes in each category will be the same:

FIRST PRIZE:  $20 cash

SECOND PRIZE:  $5 cash OR the 2015 calendar of your choice (Wall, Desk, OSS, Pond)

THIRD PRIZE:  2015 Calendar (as above) OR a set of OSS Note Cards.

Honorable Mention (as applicable):  Free OSS photos.

  1. I’d like one deep math problem that isn’t a riddle, just takes math reasoning to solve . One that you needn’t use trig or calculus to solve, but putting numbers together in thoughtful ways. When I tutored ACT math to my high schoolers, there were some questions that grabbed me. Anyway, that’s all I could suggest that would add to your already entertaining site.

    1. THANKS for the suggestion, Alexis!! I like it!! Those are my favorite kinds of problems, but I haven’t included any so far, because most folks aren’t crazy about them. 🙂
I like the suggestion, and if I can find a way to do this without scaring others away (and I bet I can), I’ll enact it. Too early to predict if the suggestion will make the “Top 3”, but I’m MOST appreciative!!

  2. I am a visual person….so with the brain teasers and the problem solving…why not
have pictures of animated “coconuts in one pile” etc. Maybe writing out an equation with only one or two
pieces missing and offer a prize if someone(s) can finish it.
    Thank you,
    Lisa

    1. Thanks, Lisa!! This is a good idea. I’ve actually tried a couple of things similar to this, but the structure(s) of WordPress and/or MailChimp [which I use on the website and the mailings] seem to make it difficult, if not impossible to do. BUT . . . just ‘hearing’ this suggestion is a good confirmation for me – I’m encouraged to look harder for ways to do things like this. 🙂
