It Could Be Verse! – December 2014

 When it comes to writing

Both comments and verse

It’s a really good practice

To try to be terse.

I’m not too successful

At comment or verse

When it comes to succinct

I couldn’t be worse.

It’s got me again!

It’s really a curse.

Try as I might, I really tend to over-babble way too much

At comment or verse.

  1. A wonderful bird is the pelican.
His beak can hold more than his belly can.
He can hold in his beak
    Enough food for a week,
And I don’t understand how in the world he can do it.

    1. Love it!!
I’ve always loved that limerick, and discovered just this AM (while trying to remember the real last line), that it’s NOT by Ogden Nash, which I had always thought/assumed. Apparently, it was penned – in 1910 – by a guy named Dixon Lanier Merritt, a newspaper editor for the Tennessean (Nashville).
