1. Longest Operation A 96-hour operation was performed on Mrs. Gertrude Levandowski from Feb 4 to Feb 8, 1951, in Chicago, to remove an ovarian cyst. During the operation, the patient’s weight fell from 616 pounds to 308 pounds.
2. Greatest Airline Passenger Load The greatest passenger load carried by a single commercial airliner was 1,088, during Operation Solomon. The operation began on May 24, 1991, when Ethiopian Jews were evacuated from Addis Ababa to Israel on a Boeing 747 belonging to El Al airline. This figure included two babies born during the flight!
