Mini Mailing, Mini Travelogue!

As you might guess, I have returned from our trip to the Great Southwest long (very long) on pictures!  At the same time, it’s clear to me that I’m not going to get out a ‘Regular Mailing’ on schedule.  So, I’ll kill two birds with one stone.  See (above and) below for A Dozen Pics for A Dozen Days.  And that will have to suffice for this mailing.  I’ll make up for it by adding a BONUS MAILING next Monday (10/28).  So, here we go:

A Dozen Pics for a Dozen Days

The Grand Canyon

As you might suspect, it is impossible to ‘capture’ the Grand Canyon.  As one of the quotes said, it takes you to the limits of your imagination.  The second shot below features the Colorado River (if you look hard, you can see it in the first one, too), and the third shot shows the sun rising, just beginning to paint the Canyon.

Page, AZ (again) – Canyon X

One of the lesser known (and hence less crowded) extensions of Antelope Canyon.  One of my favorite shots, color-wise.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Those ‘hoodoos’ are just amazing! Again, the pic is not doing the scene justice.

Capitol Reef National Park

Both shots taken at/near Natural Bridge formation.  As you can see, Autumn was also beginning to add color to the majesty.

Dead Horse Point State Park – near Moab, UT

Similar to Horseshoe Bend (also featuring the Colorado River), but different topography.  And yes, there’s a story behind the name of Dead Horse Point!  🙂

Arches National Park

May have been my favorite of the Utah National Parks (even though we somehow missed the iconic ‘Delicate Arch’ !!)  First shot is the Park Avenue Overlook, the second features one of the several ‘balancing rocks’, and the third was a lucky shot resulting from arriving at the right time of the morning!
