Krazy Pic 1  “Verily, I say unto thee – one day this space will be occupied by a woman with a guilt-free conscience.”

Krazy Pic 2  Now here’s an interesting and paradoxical hypothetical question!

Brain Teasers – Old and New  First time ever we had some brain teasers not answered at all!   Is everyone taking the summer off?  Here is a summary of solutions and submitters for the May/June BTs. And here are the newest July/August BTs. (Three new ones and still no ‘math’ ones.)

Education and Change  A favorite quote by a former professor triggers some thoughts about the difficulty of preparing students for the future.  This weeks News-Leader column.

Remembering Jim Peterson  I’ve been a little sad this past week – I lost one of my new friends from the River. Meeting Jim Peterson – the 90-year-old ‘River Rat’ from Vermillion, SD, was one of the many joys of my 2016 Trip/Adventure.  He was a delight to visit with, we rapidly became friends, and I got to see him at least three more times last summer on my ’17 returns to the River.  Jim died last Tuesday (6/26), and I’ve been thinking of him with joy, as well as sadness. If you have the book, you can re-visit his story on page 121.  If not, you can read it here.  I’m also sharing his obituary, which contains stuff I never knew about him! (He helped Ken Burns with part of his Lewis and Clark series!*)

*As did Stode Hinds, husband of my Sioux City friend Bev Hinds (see P. 120).
