Wild Cards! – 3/16/15

Cartoon of the Week  We haven’t had a dose of HERMAN in awhile.  Here’s a couple for you:  See Cartoon 1, and Cartoon 2.  The second one broke me up.  🙂

World’s Longest Town Name!!  In Wales, on the same day this week’s PHOTO was taken, we made a special stop to visit this town – or at least see the sign!  I certainly won’t quarrel with their claim ‘world’s longest name’ – I almost needed a wide-angle lens to get the shot!!  Take a look: Town Name!

New (and Old) Brain Teasers Guess there was too much going on last week!  Very few of the ‘usual’ solvers got to the Brain Teasers, so we’ll hold them over one week (answers already submitted will carry over also).   And four new (fairly easy?) ones are added, as well.  See BT 15-6.

Answers to Pi Trivia Quiz  Interesting/fun answers to last week’s Pi Triva. Visit Quiz Answers.

Explore our new Facebook Page!  AfterMath Enterprises has a new Facebook page! It needs suggestions.  Will you help??  A)  Visit the page:  FB Page  B) If you’re willing, LIKE the page and SHARE it with your friends. (I’m trying to get to 100 ‘likes’ and we’re over 90).  C)  Feel free to give me ANY input on any phase of the page!!  (Most of your are more FB-savvy than I am!  I need ideas!).  Help me out with ANY of those, & I’ll double the amount I’ve left you in my will!!  :-).

Attention Teachers!! (and others)  NPR is doing a “50 Great Teachers” celebration – I think they’re sharing a story a week, perhaps?  It looks really good.  For more information on the series itself, see NPR 50 Great Teachers.  To see information (and hear the piece) about the math teacher in rural Oklahoma who believes math=love, see Math=Love.  Thanks to subscriber Anita Dixon for sharing this!

Creativity Challenges for Word Lovers (and Others!)  We promised this new goodie this month, too.  Be looking for unique sets of twister-like jobs for those of you/us who love to tinker with words like some of us love to tinker with numbers!  Coming soon!! (HINT: The paragraph in the black font is a disguised sample of one of the challenges! :-)).
